Militant Mothers
Meet the Strathcona mothers who campaigned for a safe railway crossing so their children could get to school in Vancouver.
In 1971, the Militant Mothers, including Carolyn Jerome, demanded a pedestrian overpass so children would no longer have to cross railway tracks on their way to school. Their story is part of Strathcona’s history of neighbourhood activism.
